Chapter 1 – Introduction

What is the true structure of the Universe? Can we even know? What does the Bible have to say about it? Is the Earth round or flat? Does the Earth go around the Sun? Or is it the reverse that is true? Should we even care? In this book, we will explore these questions in an attempt to get at the absolute truth about the physical world in which we live. We will use our own senses, the brain which God gave us, the 1611 King James Bible, and simple arithmetic, geometry, and trigonometry to come up with a picture of the Earth, the Solar System, and the Universe which is at harmony with what we see, what we measure, and what we read in the Bible.

Our final authority will always be the KJV, which I believe to be the translation of the Bible which God has provided for people that speak English. The pastor of my church has preached many times about the supremacy of the KJV in the English-speaking world, and I have no reason to doubt him. In this book, we will take the point of view that the Bible is the Word of God, and that everything within its pages is true. Then, we will move on to describe the physical world that would result from this belief, and compare that world with the one that we actually live in. If a match between the two is obtained, we will discuss the profound implications of that agreement.
